EVERYTHING YOU'VE HEARD IS TRUE.
In October of 1994 three student filmmakers disappeared in the woods near Burkittsville, Maryland, while shooting a documentary. A year later their footage was found.
Groundbreaking. Frightening. Iconic. Small budget horror films are back in the zeitgeist thanks to SKINAMARINK and OBSESSION, but this was the original worldwide breakout hit that also put the found footage genre on the map. Heralded by an unprecedented digital marketing campaign, it actually convinced people it was a documentary. THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT works because of the often awkward camera work and the occasionally challenging personalities of the three leads, conjuring a reality that leads the audience into the dark, where all our fears come true.
