About this Event

Nightingale Guided Evening Walks

Moat Farm 7pm - 9.30pm

Join us for a truly unique opportunity to hear the enchanting evening chorus of the declining Nightingale. We are fortunate to welcome an abundance of nightingales each year during their nesting season. They raise their young in our carefully managed semi-natural ancient woodland, where we work to maintain the ideal habitat these remarkable birds need to thrive.

You are more than welcome to picnic in our outdoor and sheltered spaces from 6pm.
The evening will begin at 7pm in Jake’s Barn with a talk from Mike Bax, former chairman of Kent Wildlife Trust. Mike will share insights into the fascinating life of the nightingale, explain the habitat they depend on, and describe how carefully managed woodland can help support these endangered, red-listed birds. As night begins to fall, we will set off into the woodland to experience their magical song in its natural setting.

Please note that Wildlife is, of course is unpredictable, but we know nightingales are present and it is unlikely that you will not hear them on the evening of your visit. The walk through our beautiful woodland will take approximately two hours, offering a memorable experience listening to one of nature’s most celebrated songs.

Please come dressed in suitable clothing and footwear, as we will be walking through the woods in darkness.

Guests are welcome to bring simple refreshments to have in Jake's barn or picnic in the gardens from 6pm. In the past, groups have enjoyed sharing bread and cheese in Jake’s Barn before the walk, or—if the weather is kind—taking their food into the woods to enjoy while listening to the nightingales. This promises to be a peaceful and unforgettable evening immersed in nature and birdsong.
