The French Institute in Sweden is pleased to invite you to the Night of Ideas 2022!A free event, open to all, organized in the framework of the French presidency of the European Union.
The Night of Ideas (La Nuit des Idées) is an annual event organized by French embassies and institutes, which takes place every year in France and around the world. The idea is to bring people together for an evening of exchange and debate. The theme of this 7th edition is "(Re)Building together".
In Sweden, the Night of Ideas is organized by the French Institute in Sweden and will take place on Monday 23rd May 2022 at Kulturskolan in Gröndal. The theme for the evening is"(Re)Building together... somewhere else? - Spaces and populations on the move". We will talk about how different social crises have changed our perception of the place where we live, whether it is attractive or not, and how they have changed the relationship between centre and periphery, city and countryside. A panel of French and Swedish guests with different profiles and areas of expertise will discuss the topic from a French-Swedish perspective:
? Anaïs Collet, Senior Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Strasbourg
? Benoit Coquard, Sociologist at INRAE in Dijon
? Tommy Aldergrim, Lecturer, Sustainability Strategist at the Municipality of Örebro
? Carole Douillard, French artist and performer and member of the Stockholm network Of Public Interest (OPI).
? Jenny Övergaard Swedish architect and member of (OPI) and on the board for Alstra (fd Kvinnors Byggforum)
? The debate will be preceded by the screening of the film Douce France by Geoffrey Couanon (in French with English subs). The film tells the story about a class of teenagers mobilising against the construction of a shopping centre on the city where they live.
