Saxophonist Nick Mazzarella's Meridian Trio was formed in 2014 to develop a repertoire of his original compositions that draws more or less equally from avant garde and modern jazz influences. With a rhythm section featuring Chicago-based musicians Matt Ulery on bass and Jeremy Cunningham on drums, the trio's debut album Triangulum was released in 2017 on Clean Feed Records.

Guitarist Tim Stine, who has augmented Meridian on several occasions throughout the group's tenure, will join the trio for the second set of tonight's performance.
