About this Event
Swee Lee presents an intimate guitar clinic with Nick Johnston, supported by Bad Cat Amplifiers.
Nick Johnston is a Canadian guitarist and composer whose playing occupies a space that's genuinely hard to define — and even harder to replicate. Melodic without being soft, technical without being cold, his style draws from a wide range of influences while remaining unmistakably his own. It's that musical identity, built over years of focused work and creative output, that's earned him a devoted following across the global guitar community.
His solo discography — including Atomic Mind, Remarkably Human, and Wide Eyes in the Dark — reflects a song-first approach to instrumental guitar, where feel and dynamics carry as much weight as technique. Most recently, he collaborated with Porcupine Tree's Gavin Harrison on Early Mercy (2025), and in that same year joined multi-Grammy Award-winning progressive metal band Mastodon as a full-time member — hitting the ground running with extensive tours across the USA and Europe, and performing at Ozzy Osbourne's historic final show, Back to the Beginning, in Birmingham, England.
Between the big stages, Nick also does this — guitar clinics where the distance between artist and audience disappears entirely. This is one of those nights.
Supported by Bad Cat Amplifiers, this clinic is a chance to hear Nick's voice through the instrument in a setting that a festival crowd never allows — close enough to catch every nuance, with space to ask the questions that actually matter to you as a player.
What to Expect
Live Demonstrations – Nick's signature phrasing and melodic sensibility, up close and unfiltered.
Technique & Expression – His approach to feel, articulation, and playing with intention.
Tone Talk – A closer look at his setup and how Bad Cat Amplifiers factor into his sound.
Creative Process – From solo writing to stepping into Mastodon — how he adapts and evolves.
Audience Q&A – Bring your questions. This is the room for them.
Whether you've followed Nick's solo work for years or you're curious about the guitarist who just joined one of metal's most celebrated bands, this is a rare and personal look at an artist at the top of his game.
