Nichos are small “scenes” that bring remembrance into the physical. With these little boxes, we honor the memory of a loved one who has passed. We recall and emphasize what we loved about that person and how they made us smile and laugh. Construct your own nicho in memory of someone to be honored at home or on the community altar.

About Victor Escobedo
Victor Escobedo’s body of work pays tribute to his experience being born in America to Mexican parents, time spent in the Yucatan jungle listening to his grandmother speak Maya, seeing ancient ruins, exploring Maya sites before tourism, and growing up in Los Angeles in the 80s and 90s. He moved to Denver in 2006 and earned a BFA from Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in 2011. Victor is active in his community and uses his unique voice to help others express theirs.
Victor won Best Public Art on a Business in 2018 (Westword Magazine). In 2019 his puppet show, “Ojos en la Selva,” was awarded an Insight Fund grant through the Andy Warhol Foundation, awarded by RedLine Contemporary Art Center. Also in 2019, he was on the Chicano Muralist Council artist panel, exhibited at three galleries, completed four public murals, and had three performances of “Ojos.” Most recently, he completed the residency at the Denver Children’s Museum, creating clay logoraphs in the style of Mayan hieroglyphs with children and guardians of all ages. Victor is creating a permanent piece for the museum that incorporates clay leaf tablets, painting, and cnc wood cut designs into a multi-dimensional mural. His most recent show, Sangre y Oro (#sangreyoro), at Birdseed Collectives’ Alto gallery, explores our connection to the timeless forces around and within us.
