The Newport Harbor High School Alumni Association is proud to announce the eight names being added to our Hall of Fame. To celebrate our alma mater’s rich legacy of achievement and inspire current students, we will induct six student Alumni and two Faculty members. The new Hall of Fame class will be celebrated in a special presentation on the evening of Thursday October 13, 2022 in the school’s Robert B. Wentz theater as part of Homecoming Week. The honorees will gather in front of the school at 6:30pm to kick off a meet-and-greet hour to connect with the community. The theater doors will open at 7pm, and the ceremony will commence at 7:30pm.

While those recognized come from different fields and have pursued diverse goals, what unites them is the quality of their work and the way they embody NHHS’s most cherished values—personal excellence and service to the community.
The six Alumni inductees include:
John Altobelli Class of 1981, standout baseball coach
Paul Le Mat Class of 1963, iconic Golden Globe winning actor
Debbe Pyle Magnussen Class of 1974, devoted child advocate
Raun Thorp Class of 1977, creative architect
David Ullman Class of 1964, champion sailor and business owner
Dr. John Vierling Class of 1963, groundbreaking surgeon
The Two honored Faculty are:
Bill Burge, interactive Science teacher at NHHS 1969-1997
Joe Robinson, generous Humanities teacher at NHHS 1969-2022
