About this Event

This is a dance and culture workshop for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of 8 years and above, over 3 days. The booking is for the 3 days as the group will work towards making a performance.

Please dress comfortably to dance in a contemporary and traditional way (leggings, shorts, tshirts, trackies, dancewear bare feet or dance sneakers). Bring a water bottle, there will be fruit but if you have a favourite power snack pack it!

Instruction is led by experienced dance tutors Summer and Lij. This group is facilitated by settler dance educator and choreographer Katy McKeown, who has a passion for equity and decolonised practice and she is supported by Aunty Carolyn in protocols and permissions. The group is inclusive and supportive and if you'd like to chat about your child and their learning needs please do get in touch.

We hope that the group will continue fortnightly next year in Footscray and are awaiting funding confirmation, so this is a good time to join.
