Are you thinking about opening a shop, café, studio, salon or other high-street premises?

Have you got a business idea, side hustle or new opportunity, but you are not sure what to do next?

Next Steps is a free, informal business support event designed to help you find the advice, connections and direction you need to move forward.

Practical advice, without the pressure

Starting or developing a business can feel confusing. You might have lots of questions, receive conflicting advice or simply not know which organisation you need to speak to.

Next Steps brings a range of business experts and support organisations together in one place, making it easier to find relevant advice and understand the wider support available to you.

There will be no presentations, formal workshop or expectation that you speak to everyone. Simply drop in, tell us a little about your idea or situation, and we will help direct you towards the people and support most relevant to you.

Depending on what you need, you could explore topics such as:

✨ Turning your skills, experience or qualifications into a business

✨ Testing whether your idea could work

✨ Freelancing and becoming self-employed

✨ Opening or growing a high-street business

✨ Finding and preparing for business premises

✨ Understanding your customers and reaching the right people

Who is it for?

We particularly want to hear from:

🎓 Recent graduates who are considering freelancing, self-employment or turning their skills and projects into something sustainable

🏪 Aspiring high-street business owners who are thinking about opening a shop, café, studio, salon, workshop or other customer-facing premises

💡 Anyone with a business idea who needs some practical advice or help deciding what to do next

You do not need a finished business plan, and you do not need to be ready to launch. You might have the beginnings of an idea, an existing side hustle, a business that needs its next chapter or simply a question you have not known who to ask.
