Kids MorningSaturday, July 4, 10am – Noon, Newton Centre Bowl off Tyler Terrace.
Come celebrate the start of Newton’s Independence Day festivities at a special morning celebration designed for families, children, and community members of all ages.
The event will begin with a patriotic opening ceremony and welcoming remarks from Mayor Laredo.
Following the ceremony, families are invited to enjoy a variety of interactive activities and patriotic traditions created especially for children aged 12 and under. Activities will include walking parades around the Newton Centre Bowl Field featuring patriotic costumes and attire, decorated bikes and scooters, a pet parade, and a historical promenade inspired by the year 1776.
Children and families can also participate in hands-on activities including making a patriotic craft and interactive historical experiences presented by Historic Newton featuring period games, crafts, and historical artifacts. Additional highlights include live historical character portrayals of Betsy Ross and Abigail Adams, as well as a historical photo- walk experience for attendees to enjoy throughout the event.
Guests will also receive free ice cream provided by Cabot’s Ice Cream - while supplies last - and have a chance to explore a fire truck with Newton Firefighters leading the “touch a truck” activity.
This festive community event is intended to celebrate history, community spirit, and family fun as Newton begins its annual Independence Day celebrations.
