Fanny von Arnstein was one of the most remarkable women in early 19th-century Vienna. Her connections made her well-positioned as host of a prominent salon: she was a student of W.F. Bach friends with C.P.E. Bach and Haydn and a supporter of Mozart and Meyerbeer. She played a leading role in founding the Gesellschaft der Musik Freunde in Vienna and during the Congress in Vienna she hosted many of the great world leaders.
