Newsapalooza, a festival of local news, is back!

Newsapalooza is a two-day festival celebrating the future of local journalism, built around one big theme: how technology is reshaping local news. Local news is key to a healthy democracy.

It kicks off Thursday, Nov. 20 at the Pittsburgh Playhouse with a reception, a student story pitch competition (with $500 prizes and editor connections), recognition of Golden Quill Award winners, and live music.

On Friday, Nov. 21, the spotlight turns to conversations and interactive sessions with national and local anchors, journalists, students, and community leaders. From testing your ability to spot a deepfake to debating whether robots or humans deliver more trustworthy news, the day blends thought-provoking panels, hands-on workshops, and networking opportunities.

Join us to celebrate storytelling, spark new ideas, and connect with the people shaping the future of local news. That future belongs to all of us.
