Crows officially lands in retail outlets on November 6th., but there’s a chance to buy it on Saturday, Nov., 1st., in the grounds of Hereford Cathedral, Merrily’s spiritual home.
A launch for the book, combined with a celebration of Phil’s life and works, will be held at College Hall between 12.00 midday and 3.00pm. There’ll be speeches, a chance for fans to have their say on what Phil’s writing meant to them, a buffet lunch and live music from El Squid.
The event should be FUN. It’s what Phil would have wanted. The venue isn’t the only appropriate aspect. The timing is, too. He died on Oct. 29th. last year, just two days before Hallowe’en. That’s the night when the plot of Crows begins and its timeline runs to Nov. 3rd.
The event has to be ticketed to provide numbers to be catered for and to allow for the capacity limit of the building, which is 100.
For fans who would like to attend, the ticket link is attached. Please book as early as you can. For those who can’t come, we’ll be thinking of you and thanking you for all the vital support you’ve given to Phil over many years and the treasury of tributes you posted when he died. AND, hopefully, we’ll be able to post pictures from the event.
For lovers of Phil’s songs (music composed by Allan Watson) and Nick Drake’s, Sproatly Smith will be playing some of the best, along with their own , amazing, Herefordshire-based psychedelic (dark) folk music, in the evening. The venue will be nearby De Koffie Pot, a delightful cafe bar not far from the cathedral and quite close to the River Wye, inspirational to Phil and to so very many writers, artists and musicians over centuries.
