On Wednesday, Jan. 15, the UL Lafayette School of Music presents a very special concert: the University Jazz Ensemble with the internationally acclaimed jazz vocal group New York Voices at 7 p.m. in Angelle Auditorium.UL Lafayette’s 18-piece big band will perform two sets with the Grammy Award-winning vocal jazz quartet, which is celebrating its 40th year on tour.
The program features a wide range of music, including Duke Ellington, Chick Corea, Paul Simon, Cole Porter, Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, The Beatles, and even Queen. “The Voices” will amaze every listener with dazzling a cappella arrangements and exciting charts with our Jazz Ensemble.
Then, the day after our campus concert in Angelle, we’ll tour this show to New Orleans where the UL Jazz Ensemble and New York Voices will kick off the Louisiana Music Educators Association conference. We’re honored by this invitation to play for over 1,500 school musicians and educators.
$20 General Admission, tickets available at the door.
