New Year’s Eve community celebrations – update Unfortunately, due to forecast adverse weather conditions impacting event set-up, and with these conditions highly likely to continue into New Year’s Eve, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all five New Year’s Eve community celebrations at Matua, Pāpāmoa, Mount Maunganui, Greerton, and Tauranga city centre.
Weather permitting, we are still planning to go ahead with the fireworks displays at 9.30pm and midnight, which are designed to be visible from across the city. This means you can enjoy the fireworks from where you’re already celebrating, or from a safe, elevated vantage point.
All further updates regarding the fireworks will be shared on the Tauranga City Council Facebook and Instagram pages.
