New Year's Day Guided Hike | Longshaw Estate, Peak District

Start 2027 on White Edge Moor and Curbar Edge with a New Year's Day guided hike from Longshaw Estate in the Peak District.
We head out of the estate and climb onto White Edge Moor, following the ridge before dropping down near Curbar Edge for lunch. From there we continue along Curbar Edge and Froggatt Edge, taking in views across Hope Valley and the moorland at its most beautiful, before looping back to Longshaw Estate, hopefully with the café open for a warming drink at the end. If the weather turns, we'll switch to a sheltered route around Padley Gorge instead, so the day goes ahead whatever the forecast throws at us.
A good walk sets the tone for the months ahead, and there's something genuinely grounding about spending the first morning of the year in nature rather than on the sofa. This is a friendly, steady route on well-known Peak District trails, perfect for solo walkers, beginners, and anyone who fancies starting the year in good company. Sorry, no dogs on this one, and adults 18 and over only.
Led by Anne Kemp-Eyre, a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader with more than 40 years of experience walking and guiding across the Peak District.
