Design Midlands: City Talks are FREE to attend. In this session we discuss new towns from an historical perspective.
About this Event

In our second City Talks, we consider New Towns.

Design Midlands, as part of the Design Network, is developing Vision Training for Place Making Strategies working with the Planning Advisory Service (PAS). We will share our learning on this from the perspetive of past visions such as the pioneering work of Ebenezer Howard’s Garden City, Jane Jacobs and Le Corbusier. Is there anything new we can add to these visions which have shaped our ideas on place making and urban design for the last 100 years and are still powerful ideas.

We will invite members from the new town task force to talk about their work and the team from Wychavon who are planning 11,000 new homes in Worcestershire Parkway area. The talk will be chaired by Birmingham School of Architecture.
