NEW: The Science of a Healthy Heart
About this Event
On September 8th, we present : "The Science of a Healthy Heart" by Prof. Bobby Yanagawa.
What happens when your heart starts to fail — and what can you do long before you get there?
The heart is one of the most remarkable organs in the human body, beating over 100,000 times every day to keep us alive. But when things go wrong, cardiac surgeons are tasked with some of the most complex and high-stakes procedures in medicine.
In this fascinating talk, Dr. Bobby Yanagawa takes audiences inside the world of cardiac surgery, exploring what heart surgeons do, what happens during major heart operations, and how conditions like coronary artery disease and valve disorders can threaten the heart’s function.
Moving beyond the operating room, Dr. Yanagawa will unpack the science of heart health: what puts our hearts at risk, how we can optimize cardiovascular function, and the most important lessons he has learned from years of treating patients.
He’ll also look ahead at the future of cardiac surgery in Canada and around the world, from advances in treatment to how the field is evolving.
Expect an engaging and accessible evening that will leave you with a deeper understanding of your heart—and practical knowledge for keeping it healthy.
