New Standards Jazz Orchestra - Summer Concert at Knox Church
About this Event
The New Standards Jazz Orchestra (NSJO) is a newly formed, contemporary large ensemble based in Edmonton, emerging from the New Standards community. For our first full-length performance , we will be presenting 2 sets of original compositions written by members of the ensemble, rooted in the jazz big band tradition while drawing influence from hip-hop, electronic music, and contemporary pop.
This project marks the next step in a longer-term vision to reimagine what a big band can be—eventually incorporating expanded instrumentation, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and performances in both traditional and non-traditional spaces—while contributing to a vibrant, forward-looking music ecosystem in Edmonton.
