THE CRANMER ANTHEM BOOK (III)
About this Event

This is the third concert in an annual series featuring new works for one
of the most innovative and exciting commissioning projects of our time, The Cranmer Anthem Book. The project will see new settings of each of the 88 Collects (or prayers) from the Book of Common Prayer, devised by Tudor Archbishop of Canterbury, Thomas Cranmer (1489–1556). The pieces, composed by some of the world’s leading composers, will be introduced by Matthew Owens in recorded conversation with the composers, offering a fascinating insight into the world of contemporary music.

Programme includes:

Sally Beamish OBE new work (world premiere)

Gavin Bryars Of thy bountiful goodness, keep us (world premiere)

Carson Cooman A measure of thy grace (world premiere)

Michael Finnissy Collect for Saint Peter (world premiere)

Emily Howard O Lord, we beseech thee (world premiere)

Matthew Martin Almighty God, who seest (world premiere)

Anselm McDonnell O God the King of glory (world premiere)

Richard Mitchell Innocency (world premiere)

Huw Watkins new work (world premiere)
