A closet drama is a genre of dramatic literature that's meant to be read rather than performed on stage—a play that can dodge stageability and censorship, and has done so throughout history.

THE CONVENT OF PLEASURE is a play about a utopian retreat where women can live and love freely without men. It was written in 1668.

Join us on July 19th for a special, one-night-only reading of this very weird, very funny play. This reading starts at 8pm, and runs about 60 minutes with no intermission.

Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis—doors will open about 30 minutes prior to the start of the show. We'll be serving complimentary drinks and light food before and after the show.
