About this Event
New Queer Cinema from Long Island 🎥
Come join us for an evening celebrating independent queer cinema at Cinema Arts Centre! Immerse yourself in a selection of genre-defying short films created by three filmmakers from Long Island: Grace Zhang, Jard Lerebours, and Devon Narine-Singh.
With this event, we hope to create a gathering space for queer and trans people of color to connect and be in dialogue through artmaking.
Following the screening will be an artist talk and audience Q&A.
⭐ Screening begins at 5pm ⭐
- Free entry, first come first serve
- We will be collecting sliding-scale donations for these mutual aid funds: Crips for eSims for Gaza & Help Build an Artist Residency in Trinidad and Tobago
About the Filmmakers 🎞️
Grace Zhang is a writer/director, producer and editor from New York whose work interweaves slice-of-life scenes with dream sequences and memories. Created with the support of their QTPOC community, their work depicts the ebbs and flows of queer existence and diasporic life. Their short films DOG STORY and SNAKESKIN have screened in five countries, including at Queer East in the UK, Belfast Film Festival, San Diego Asian Film Festival, NOWNESS China, and CINEMQ Shanghai. They co-founded the full-service Asian American production company Ozu Was Right. @grocpot
