GALA PREMIER - “NEW PHASES” DECATUR CITY DANCE’S FIRST DANCE FILM
SATURDAY, JUNE 12, 2021 - 7-10PM AT TOCO HILLS COMMUNITY ALLIANCE TICKETS $45 (PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT DECATUR CITY DANCE AND THE TOCO HILLS COMMUNITY ALLIANCE)
“New Phases” is a 23 minute dance film, featuring over 60 dancers from Decatur City Dance, directed and soundtracked by Danny Bevins, choreographed by Meg Gourley, Kyme Hersi-Sallid, and Leslie Palmer Gourley, and produced by Neil Shastri and Monica Garcia Bradley. The film and subsequent choreography was inspired by Danny Bevins’ third music project, “The Why Not Mixtape 3. The music and choreography follow the thematic elements of Mother Nature/environmental awareness, the nobility of a creator, COVID-19 and the pandemic, Love (taking us to a higher place), and modern day America. All locations were shot to highlight the areas of Decatur and Druid Hills.
Ticket purchase for the gala includes: a boxed gourmet dinner, beverages (sweet and unsweet tea, lemonade, water), live performances from Manual IV and Danny Bevins, the premier screening of “New Phases” at sundown, a Q&A following the screening with choreographers and performers involved.
