New Orleans Ragtime Festival presents The Seva Venet Storyville String Band

Join us for a unique Ragtime event featuring Seva and his incredible musical talents. Since 2006, Seva has led his own jazz band, blending the rich sounds of the 6-string banjo with a traditional New Orleans jazz ensemble. He also heads the Storyville String Band, an acoustic ensemble that reimagines classic New Orleans jazz with a string-dominated lineup—featuring bass, guitar, Hawaiian slide, mandolin, violin, ukulele, and clarinet.

In addition to his deep-rooted dedication to New Orleans jazz, Seva brings the lively rhythms of Ragtime into his repertoire, adding a fresh twist to this festival’s celebration of both genres. His performances weave together the syncopated charm of Ragtime and the rich traditions of New Orleans, creating an unforgettable experience.

Seva is renowned for his commitment to preserving the traditions of New Orleans jazz, particularly through teaching, performances, and his exploration of the banjo’s role in the genre.
