Brooklyn power trio with an alt rock/new wave/pop sensibility, New Myths is the collaboration of Brit Boras (guitar/lead vocals), Rosie Slater (drums/vocals), and Marina Ross (bass/vocals). The trio writes what they love, combining elements from bands such as Garbage, Elastica, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and The Pretenders.

In 2012, New Myths released their first self-titled EP. The first single, “False Gold” was immediately featured by Lou Reed on his XM radio show and used in ad campaigns for companies like Gucci and Reef. Via their own record label, New Myths released their debut LP, “Give Me Noise,” in 2014. Following the release, the band was written up by major publications such as The New York Times, The Guardian, and Pop Matters.

In 2016, Steve Lamacq of BBC Radio 6 featured the band in his “Live From SXSW” show alongside acts like The Kills and Florence + The Machine.

New Myths has performed at music festivals such as SXSW, Pop Montreal, CMJ, Northside and Destination Moon. The band members have been spotted backing up acts like Kristin Kontrol, Torres, Delicate Steve, Thick, Frankie Rose, and singing in an SNL Digital Short with Paul Rudd. They have been tapped as support for major acts like Metric, Warpaint, Lucius, and Dream Wife. In the fall of 2017, New Myths hit the road as direct support on tour with Cindy Wilson, (of The B-52s) and in the spring of 2019 toured as direct support for The Joy Formidable. The band is currently gearing up to release their second full-length record.

A Very Special Episode is more than a band; it's a genre-bending experience. Their debut LP, FIX YOUR HEARTS OR DIE, laid the foundation for their noisy, boundary-pushing sound. In 2023's Freak Me Out, they elevate their signature style, exploring pop melodies while maintaining an edgy core. Tracks like "Deep in the Weeds" showcase their versatility, seamlessly blending catchy hooks with intense instrumentation. Freak Me Out reflects AVSE's evolution, inspired by surreal and diverse film and TV influences as well as their peers in the scene. The album's community-centric approach is evident in tracks like "$5 Cover," name-dropping local bands and highlighting DIY scene moments. AVSE's collaboration extends beyond their unit, embracing the larger DIY ecosystem. Following their summer 2023 release, AVSE toured Japan with label mates Kissed by an Animal and embarked on a seven-show East Coast tour. Without pause, they present a new split EP, DS + AVSE, collaborating with Desert Sharks. Releasing on March 8th, 2024, the EP explores the four elements, delivering powerful punk and doom-soaked anthems.
