Join us for a series of forest bathing events this summer, celebrating the new moons, the festival of Lammas and summer in the woodlands
About this Event

The second event in our series of Summer Forest Bathing events.

This event is all about gathering together as women and enjoying some relaxation and connection in the woodlands.

Each session will follow a similar structure, but will be on a different theme and offer a unique experience. Each event is also a standalone experience.

The basic structure of the sessions will be:

  • Welcome and check in
  • Guided forest bathing invitations
  • Chance for reflection, connection, sharing and listening
  • Cup of tea and close

3rd July - Summer Forest Bathing: an invitation to connection

This will be a deeply immersive, multi-sensory nature connection experience, that invites participants to connect to the natural world around us - and in turn to ourselves - through a series of thoughtful, guided forest bathing invitations

14th July - New Moon Women's Circle*

A chance to gather together with likeminded women in the embrace of the evening woodlands celebrating the new 'buck' moon - also the first new moon of the summer. We will enjoy some guided forest bathing, followed by a chance to reflect and chat together around our log circle. However you are arriving - with joy or sadness, peace or worries - you are invited to join our welcoming community of supportive women to share in laughter and tears, or to simply listen and be amongst the trees

3rd August: Lammas / Lughnasadh Forest Bathing and Chill

A chance to celebrate the traditional first harvest of the year, and the midway point between the Solstice and Equinox. This session is informed and inspired by both the ancient Gaelic festival of Lughnasah, and the closely-related anglo-saxon festival of Lammas, and is funadmentally a celebration of the natural world and of ourselves, open to people of all backgrounds, and of all beliefs or none. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect to the cycle of the seasons in the natural world, and to tune into ourselves, reflecting on how we are arriving in this moment of the year of warm sun and abundant harvest.

11th August - New Moon Women's Circle*

A chance to gather together with likeminded women in the embrace of the evening woodlands, to celebrate the new 'sturgeon' moon. We will enjoy some guided forest bathing, followed by a chance to reflect and chat together around our log circle. However you are arriving - with joy or sadness, peace or worries - you invited to join our welcoming community of supportive women to share in laughter and tears, or to simply listen and be amongst the trees

What is Forest Bathing?

Forest Bathing, or ‘shinrin yoku’ in Japanese, is the wonderfully restorative, mindfulness-based practice of immersing oneself in the forest, woodland or any green space, using your senses to connect to the natural world around you.

The event will be guided by Poppy Wildman, a qualified Forest Therapy Practitioner. Additional information will be sent out to all attendees 48 hours before the event by email - if you have not received it by then, please check your spam then message me at [email protected].

Please note that due to the group nature of this event, there is a minimum of 2 participants needed for this session. If the minimum is not reached 48 hours before the event, the event will be cancelled and refunds given.

This event is for adults only. Please do not bring children or pets.Sessions marked with an * are for women and non-binary people, all others are open to all.

Please see FAQs below for information on accessibility, parking and other info. Any other questions, do not hesitate to get in touch.

Where to meet?

Outside the 'cake by the lake' café, by the visitor centre and car park. Full details will be sent to attendees nearer the time.

What to bring:

For your comfort, please bring: something comfy to sit on (yoga mat or camping chair is ideal); a blanket / warm layers; a notebook and pen; and a mug. Limited spares may be available.

Accessibility:

If you have any specific accessibility requirements, please get in touch and I will do my best to inform, advise and accommodate appropriately. The site is accessed via flat, soft and sometimes uneven ground, a 5 minute walk from our meeting point. Disabled parking and toilets are available.

Parking:

Parking, including disabled, is available in the main car park by the meeting point (charges apply). If full, there is usually space to park along Mere Way, just behind the car park, too. Please be advised that parking can get busy on sunny days.

Facilities:

There are toilets, including disabled, by the meeting point behind the ‘cake by the lake’ café. These are a 5 minute walk from the location we will be based at.

Concession:

Concession tickets are available for those who feel this term applies to them and for whom cost would otherwise be a barrier to participation. This may include - but is not necessarily limited to - pensioners, students, disabled people or those on low/no income.

Pay What You Can Afford:

I also offer a limited number of 'Pay What You Can Afford' tickets for those for whom the concessionary cost also remains a barrier. If you would like one of these tickets, please drop me a message at [email protected] and I will sort you out. These are offered on an honesty basis, no questions asked. These tickets do not count towards the minimum 2 participants required for the session to go ahead.

Inclusivity:

Except where stated otherwise, these events are open to all adults. Our women's events are open to all self-identifying women, as well as non-binary people. These events are designed to offer gentle relaxation and opportunities for connection for all people, including those who have been most marginalised. Please get in touch if you would like more information.

Refunds and cancellations:

Cancellations made more than 7 days before the event will receive a full refund, minus the non-refundable Eventbrite fee. Due to the level of planning and preparation that goes into these events, unfortunately I cannot refund or transfer tickets after this date.
