New Jersey Concealed Carry Permit Qualifier

Date: April 30, 2024

Time: 5:30pm - 7:30pm

Location: Crossfire Shooting Sports

New Jersey CCP for non-residents

This is a qualifier for handgun owners wishing to conceal carry in the State of New Jersey. This course is not designed for new or novice shooters. Although safe handling/storage/transportation topics will be covered in the course, participants should already possess basic firearms knowledge, safe handling, shooting fundamentals, shooting proficiency, and be familiar with your personally-owned firearm before attending this qualifier course. This course is a qualifier course where a required minimum passing score of 80% (minimum of 40 shots out of 50 within the border of the target silhouette) must be achieved to successfully pass this course as mandated by the New Jersey State Police. Participants will be firing 10 rounds from the 15, 10, 7, 5, and 3 yard lines each.

This qualifier is just one step in the process of obtaining a N.J. CCP. I STRONGLY urge all individuals with the interest in obtaining a N.J. CCP to first visit the N.J. State Police Firearms Investigation Unit website, and contact the New Jersey State Police barracks closest to your residence to discuss the process, documents required, and additional fees (application S.P. 642, fingerprinting, passport photos, etc), so that you have a complete understanding of the entire process and what is expected of you prior to enrolling in this qualifier course.

Participants who successfully complete this course will be provided with form S.P.182. You will submit this document in-person to the New Jersey State Police Barracks closest to your residence along with all other required application documents (forms S.P.642, S.P.066, passport photos, etc). The entire process typically takes 90 days to receive your CCP after submitting your application and accompanied documents so long as you make every effort in completing and submitting all of the necessary forms without delay.

Participants should bring:

- Minimum of 50 rounds of factory ammo (additional rounds will be required if a passing score is not achieved on the first attempt through the course)

- Firearm(s) you wish to qualify with (semi-auto and/or revolver)

- Strong side OWB holster (NO inside waistband, shoulder, ankle, belly holsters, or fanny pack holsters)

- Valid driver's license for the state you reside in

- Baseball style hat (with a brim).

- Eye protection (suitable for firearms shooting)

- Hearing protection (suitable for firearms shooting)

- Extra magazines and/or speed loaders strongly recommended

- Ammo available for purchase on site. *Ammo availability is not guaranteed – subject to in-stock inventory

A NEW JERSEY PERMIT TO CONCEAL CARRY IS VALID FOR TWO (2) YEARS FROM TIME OF APPROVAL.

Qualifier course fee - $125.00

Pricing explanation:

N.J. CCP qualifier is $125.00 which covers the cost of instruction, evaluation of safe firearm handling and target scoring, targets, Instructor completion of required form (S.P.182), Use of Force class and materials (handout) provided to participants.

In a case where a shooter fails to achieve a passing score on their first attempt, any subsequent attempts are $25.00 cash (or $30.00 plus tax with credit card) each if attempted on the same visit. If a shooter chooses to defer future attempts to pass the course to another day, any attempts on a future date will be full course price ($125.00).

No refunds are given if a successful passing score is not achieved. Please keep in mind that you are using your handgun for this qualifier course – a handgun that you have access to 24/7/365 to practice with. Being proficient enough to achieve a passing score should be a prerequisite of yours prior to enrolling in this course.
