About this Event

NEW! Direct Support Professionals Career Development Program (DSP)Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide necessary support and services to people with disabilities of all ages, including support related to employment. They work with individuals with physical, mental, or developmental disabilities who need support with daily tasks and community engagement. In addition to training as a DSP, students will select a credit or non-credit career pathway and receive industry recognized training through certification programs and credit courses. The Direct Support Professionals Career Development Program is made possible by a grant from the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education.

Program Eligibility

  • An applicant must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Current high school students, college students, and adults interested in a career pathway serving clients with disabilities of all ages,
  • Students will select a career pathway and participate in associated training programs or credit courses.

Training Benefits

Rowan College of South Jersey will offer the Direct Support Professional Career Development program

  • No training costs to eligible students
  • Earn the Direct Support Professional Career Development Certificate
  • ndustry recognized credentials earned
  • College Credit Earned
  • $5,000 stipend for completing benchmarks
  • Internships with local employers

Potential employment available upon the program completion

This is an excellent opportunity to be trained as a DSP without any financial burden.

*Students who have selected the Social Work pathway will earn six (6) credits to be applied to an Associate of Arts Degree in Sociology at Rowan College of South Jersey if desired upon enrollment in the matriculated program.

**Students who have selected the Allied Health career pathway will complete a state approved Certified Nurse Program
