Program1. Erin Gee, new work for Earplay sextet and voice (2024) for soprano, flute, clarinet, violin, viola and cello. Commissioned by the Fromm Music Foundation at Harvard for Earplay. Composer/singer Erin Gee, with her signature vocal style, joins the Earplay ensemble for this World Premiere.
2. Sami Seif, Syriac Fugato (2022) for violin and viola. San Francisco Premiere. Praised in the press as a distinctive creator of “intoxicating and fascinating soundscapes”, Sami Seif is the winner of this year’s Vibrant Shores competition.
3. George Walker, Perimeters (1966) for clarinet and piano. Earplay celebrates the life of George Walker (1922-2018), the first African American to win the Pulitzer Prize in music.
4. Byron Au Yong, New Work (2024) for flute, clarinet, violin, viola, cello and piano. Earplay presents the World Premiere of a composer of works described as “intimate and existential, personal and political all at once” by Variety Magazine.
