New City, New Crew | Social Night For DFW's Transplants
About this Event
You don't need another networking event.
You need a room full of people who actually get understand. Who moved here from somewhere else, built the job and the apartment and the routine, and are still looking for the people who make a city feel like home.
That's exactly what August 18th is.
Not From Here, Either is a community for DFW transplants. Men and women who relocated here and are still finding their tribe, whether they've beeb here one month or a decade ago. We exist to give you the social infrastructure a move takes away: the crew, the recommendations, the trusted sources, and the friend group that just shows up.
This gathering is your first chance to find yours.
WHAT THE NIGHT LOOKS LIKE
This isn't a panel. It's not a seminar. Nobody is going to make you stand up and introduce yourself to the whole room (unless you want to).
It's a real night out, interactive games designed to spark real conversation, open socializing, and community connection built on the one thing everyone in the room already has in common: you all got here from somewhere else.
We're gathering at La Souq, a Mediterranean-inspired coffee bar in Richardson that was built around the idea that diverse communities deserve a beautiful place to connect. The name itself means gathering place in Arabic. We couldn't think of a better home for our first night.
Expect:
- Interactive games designed to connect strangers through shared transplant experiences
- Open socializing with people who are actively building their DFW network just like you so you're not alone and we'll be bouncing around and connecting with you too
- A goodie bag from our community's sponsors full of products from brands that align with how you choose to live
- La Souq's full menu specialty coffees, Mediterranean-inspired lattes, teas, toasts, and pastries from one of Richardson's most talked-about new spots
THE VIBE
Warm. Chill. No elevator pitches. No awkward small talk you have to survive.
The games we've designed are specifically built to break past the surface: you'll learn where people are from, what they miss, what they've found, and what they're still looking for. By the time the night is over, you won't be leaving as strangers. Believe us that that's exactly how we met!
A NOTE ON THE SPACE
La Souq is generously sharing their beautiful space with us for the evening. In the spirit of supporting independent, community-driven businesses, and the incredibly talented team behind this one, we ask that every attendee purchase at least one beverage and/or pastry during the event (minimum $10 per person).
Trust us: this is not a hardship. Their menu is so tasty!

ADMISSION
This event is complimentary, free to attend.
We believe access to community shouldn't cost anything upfront. If the night moves you and you'd like to support what we're building so we can host gatherings like this across DFW every month — there will be an option to donate at the event. Every contribution goes directly toward securing new venues and keeping our gatherings free and open.

Founded by Brittney McKinley and Chef Bella Rose — two DFW transplants who spent years building careers in this city and still found themselves without the community they were missing. Instead of waiting for someone else to create it, they built it.

This is just the beginning. Monthly gatherings are coming. A city-wide resource guide is in progress. A community of people who know exactly who to call — for a barber, a mechanic, a workout partner, a restaurant, a real friend — is being built one gathering at a time.
