*Small Group Walk - Registration required, limit of 25 participants
Walk Description: In the early 1900s Vancouver's Chinatown was under threat from a number of factors and a group created the New Chinatown Co. to purchase property near Commercial Drive and Hastings street for a new Chinatown. We'll explore the area, look at a few surviving structures and meander into the Cedar Cove area to look at its multi-cultural history.
Walk Leader: John Atkin is a civic historian, he conducts unique neighbourhood walks and he's a heritage consultant
Starting place: Woodland St at Franklin Street
How to recognize your walk leader(s): Black baseball cap red notebook in hand
Accessibility Info: Uneven terrain, Family-friendly, Wheelchair user-friendly, There are sidewalks with curb cuts, some uneven pavement in spots and one decent incline.
Travel Tips: Lots of buses on Powell and Hastings as well as Commercial Drive. Bringing a bike? John suggests walking with it on the tour. Parking isn't too bad in the area.
Walk will end in the brewery district around Victoria Drive
