About this Event

This two-hour overview serves as an introduction San Mateo County safety and student services practice. The training supports new and new-ish administrators (including veteran administrators who are new-to-San Mateo County) with enough information to start the year thoughtfully, allowing them to determine which full trainings to attend over the course of the year.

Tentative List of Topics:

  • Meet the Safe & Supportive Schools team at the San Mateo County Office of Education - and new/new-to-SMC administrators like yourself!
  • The Big Five Overview
  • Behavioral Threat Assessment Management Overview
  • Comprehensive School Safety Planning
  • Attendance / SART / SARB services
  • School Climate Supports (i.e. STOPit!, PBIS, TPYE, Squad, Restorative Practice)
  • Supportive Student Programs (Foster Youth, McKinney Vento, YAASS)
  • Overview of Additional Services/Training Options, like Safe Routes to School, Section 504, Site-Based Investigations, and CSEC / Human Trafficking.

Agenda:

  • 8:00-8:30: Check-in table open; coffee and breakfast snacks
  • 8:30-10:15: Overview of Programs and Trainings
  • 10:15-10:30: Connections with County Staff & New Administrators
