🎬 NEVER SEEN IT FILM CLUB presents PRIDE! A Season of Queer Cinema at AccidentalThis summer, to help you celebrate Belfast Pride and get you in the mood for Trans Pride, Never Seen It Film Club invites you to a powerful series of queer films at Accidental Theatre, across four Sundays, four iconic titles that have shaped and celebrated LGBTQ+ storytelling on screen.
From 80s classics to radical documentaries, join us for a season of visibility, love, resistance, and joy.
🗓 Sunday 20th July, 4pm BST – My Beautiful Laundrette (1985)
Stephen Frears’ iconic Thatcher-era drama follows the unlikely love story between Omar, a young British Pakistani man, and Johnny, his former schoolmate turned fascist punk. A sharp, subversive, and surprisingly tender film that explores race, class, and sexuality in 1980s London.
🗓 Sunday 27th July, 6pm BST – Rebel Dykes (2021)
This punk-fuelled documentary tells the untold story of a group of lesbian anarchists and artists who shaped queer London in the 1980s. Packed with interviews, archive footage, and attitude, Rebel Dykes is a wild and essential ride through a radical underground.
🗓 Sunday 17th August, 7pm BST – Desert Hearts (1985)
A quietly revolutionary love story set against the sweeping Nevada desert. When a reserved academic falls for a free-spirited artist in 1950s America, sparks fly. Donna Deitch’s beautifully shot and emotionally rich film is a landmark in lesbian cinema — romantic, sincere, and unapologetically sensual.
🗓 Sunday 31st August, 6pm BST – Paris Is Burning (1990)
A cultural touchstone and fierce celebration of New York’s ballroom scene, Jennie Livingston’s landmark documentary offers an intimate look at the Black and Latinx queer communities who defined an era. Voguing, chosen family, and survival — Paris Is Burning remains essential viewing.
Each screening stands alone, but together they tell a broader story of identity, community, and resistance.
