🚨 IT IS OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED: OCTOBER 30TH AT GREEN HIGH SCHOOL’S TRACK! 🎃🏃♀️
Tri-State community, the date is secured, and registration is open! On Friday, October 30th at 5:00 PM, I am hosting my public Halloween Relay Event right at the Green High School stadium track!
This project is not just an academic step for me; it is tied directly to my heart, my past, and my family. Having survived 11 concussions in my lifetime, I have had to personally fight through the battles of long-term memory loss and severe cognitive overload. Navigating those brain injuries sparked a deep fascination with neuroscience and the brain's ability to rewire itself--a process of trying to heal that you also see when looking at the devastating reality of brain cancer.
Because of this, I have a deep, lifelong empathy for anyone fighting invisible battles. This fundraiser is my way of supporting a severe loss in a loved family that I am deeply connected to, and the one my sister is marrying into. The Adams and Maynard families lost a mother, a wife, a daughter, and so much more to brain cancer. Dawn Michelle "Missy" Maynard was an outstanding woman, and she deserves a legacy that reflects the light she brought into everyone's lives.
This event is about not only ensuring Missy receives the beautiful memorial she deserves, but also proving to every single family currently navigating a similar tragedy that they have support from all angles. By showing up to this track on October 30th, you are proving to the Maynard family and anyone else fighting in the dark that they are NEVER RUNNING ALONE. Our community will always show up when it matters most.
🧱 What Your Support Builds:
A Permanent Stadium Memorial: 100% of team registrations, gate entries, and concession sales will directly fund a permanent upright tablet monument outside our stadium gates. The front will honor Missy, while the back will stay a blank canvas for future local families to request to engrave the names of their own loved ones lost to any form of cancer. It will be surrounded by flowers and lit by a permanent purple light beam.
Research: All remaining profits go straight to global research through the American Brain Tumor Association, with any unbought concession snacks routed to local foster kids through Scioto County Children Services.
🎟️ Event Information:
The Races: regular 4x1 & 4x2 relays, "anything-but-a-baton" heats, and big man races! (Costumes are highly encouraged!)
The Cost: $20 per team of four ($5 per member, collected at check-in). Spectator entry at the stadium gate is $3.
