About this Event

NeuroMagical Minds: A Somatic Skills Group for Neurodivergent Tweens

A 6-week creative and body-based group for tweens with ADHD, autism, and other neurodivergent experiences

Does your child feel overwhelmed by big emotions, sensory overload, or a body that seems out of sync with their fast-moving mind?

Do they struggle to express what they are feeling, connect with peers, or regulate stress and anxiety, even though they are bright, creative, and deeply perceptive?

You have a brain that is capable of magical things! Maybe you feel like your brain moves too fast for your body, or like your feelings are too big or intense, or maybe you don’t always know how to express what’s happening in your inside world. Often, it’s just a matter of understanding what your brain and body need to be able to feel your feels, learn, and connect with others.

This workshop series is designed specifically for neurodivergent tweens who experience the world intensely and need practical, embodied tools to feel more grounded, confident, and connected.

Rather than asking kids to “think their way” through emotions or behaviors, this group supports them in learning how their nervous system works, what their body is communicating, and how to respond with skill and self-compassion.

This group is for tweens ages 10-12 who:

  • Live with ADHD, autism, learning differences, sensory sensitivities, or other forms of neurodivergence
  • Feel emotions deeply or intensely
  • Have a hard time connecting socially or struggle to feel a sense of belonging
  • Struggle with anxiety, impulsivity, emotional outbursts, shutdowns, or social challenges
  • Learn best and are most engaged when they are moving their bodies, being creative, and/or learning experientially
  • Parents seeking supportive, strengths-based mental health care beyond traditional talk therapy

Through this group, tweens will gain:

  • Somatic (body-based) practices, creative expression, and relational skill-building
  • An understanding of how their unique brain and nervous system function, identifying both the gifts and the challenges
  • Tools to notice signs of overwhelm and regulate before emotions escalate
  • Practices for expressing feelings through movement, art, journaling, and discussion
  • Confidence and self-trust
  • Connection with peers with similar and distinct experiences
  • More comfort with their bodies and emotions

Parents are included at the beginning and end of the series so that skills learned can be understood, supported, and reinforced at home.

Group Overview:

Tuesdays | 4:15–5:30 pm

Session 1 – February 10 :: Parents & Tweens Together :: Getting to know one another and learning how neurodivergent brains and bodies work. We establish shared language, safety, and intention for the group.

Sessions 2–5 – February 24, March 3, March 10, March 17 :: Tweens Only :: Skill-building sessions focused on emotional expression, regulation, and connection. Activities include movement, art-making, journaling, and group sharing.

Session 6 – March 24 :: Parents & Tweens Together :: Tweens share what they have learned through creative expression. Parents gain insight into their child’s growth and tools to continue supporting them.

Location: In-person at Luminae Wellness, in Berkeley/Kensington.

Investment:

  • $420 for the full 6-week series
  • Early Bird $360, when registered by January 20

This group offers the depth and continuity of therapy-level support in a small group setting, making it a meaningful investment in your child’s emotional wellbeing, confidence, and long-term resilience. We ask for a commitment to attend at least 5 of the 6 sessions.

Please note: When you purchase a ticket, your child’s spot is reserved specifically for your family and held with care for the full series. Because space is limited and the group is intentionally kept small, all ticket sales are final and cannot be refunded or transferred. Eventbrite charges ticket fees, to avoid fees and send payment via Venmo, you can email [email protected]
