About this Event
Neurodiversity is very much the buzz in the legal industry, but what does it actually mean?
In short, no two brains are alike! Neurological differences are an essential form of human diversity, and recognising and supporting this diversity is important to the legal sector.
During this two-hour session, our speakers — Veli-Matti Räikkönen, senior associate at Ledingham Chalmers Solicitors, and Fraser Mackay from Disabling Barriers Scotland — will offer an overview of the meaning “neurodiversity”, and explore in detail the relevant law. They will discuss how this applies to workplace claims for employees and employers, and consider the approach being taken by the Courts and Tribunals to such claims.
In particular, this session will cover:
1. What is neurodiversity?
2. What are the considerations neurodiversity brings to the workplace?
3. What is the law covering neurodiverse employees?
4. Are the Courts and Tribunals treating neurodiversity as a disability?
5. What does this mean for employers?
6. What does this mean in other settings?
7. What’s on the horizon in this area?
