Networking for the Bioeconomy

Welcome to our event where those in the bioeconomy sector gather to connect, collaborate, and innovate! Join us at the Earlham Institute (EI) for networking opportunities, insightful discussions, and knowledge sharing. Whether you are a seasoned expert or just starting out in the field, this event is perfect for expanding your network and exploring new possibilities in the bioeconomy. Don't miss out on this chance to meet like-minded individuals and build valuable connections. See you there!

The Bioladies Network presents an afternoon packed with fascinating insights into bioeconomy. Hear from compelling speakers covering both technical and human aspects of building the bioeconomy. You will learn about projects in agriculture and rewilding, and novel biotechnological approaches to making our food healthy and nutritious. We will also have speakers covering the value of diversity in skills and perspectives in driving bioeconomy, and the value of networking. Event is free and open to all.

What is the bioeconomy?

The bioeconomy comprises those parts of the economy that use renewable biological resources from land and sea – such as crops, forests, fish, animals and micro-organisms – to produce food, materials and energy.

Why Bioeconomy?

The bioeconomy offers us a more equitable, community-driven, transparent and collaborative way of life that makes us truly embedded in natural systems. It shows us how nature can help us solve some of the biggest challenges, while increasing our link to, and empathy for, the planet.

Who are we?

Iris Anderson has 35 years of policy, business and research experience. She has represented the UK in bioeconomy, agriculture, energy and sustainability issues and is proficient in global marketing of UK agri-tech and bioindustries. She has spent the majority of her career within MAFF, Defra and the Department of Energy and Climate Change. She also has expertise in helping organisations to embrace diversity and led cross Whitehall diversity networks and staff development including mentoring and coaching.

Iris founded the Bioladies Network in 2013 which was originally created to empower women in the bioeconomy. This is still the primary goal of the Bioladies Network, but we have now evolved into an inclusive and safe space where everyone, who is passionate or just curious about bioeconomy, is welcome! We have over 450 members all over the world, working in various areas (academia, small and large industry, and public sector) and covering sectors including biotechnology, construction, agriculture, fashion, food, packaging etc.
