About this Event

Philipp and his family live on Griffen Creek, where they board horses, raise cattle and chickens, and grow eldeberries! Join KCD and Alayne Blickle from Horses for Clean Water to tour Nettlebed Farm and learn about horse keeping, livestock management, and creating a small-scale agri-business that’s in concert with the land. The family runs a retirement horse boarding business, they raise beef cattle and are developing their own small herd, and they grow elderberry flowers to produce and sell liqueur products.Philipp will share his experiences and the process he took to create the beautiful farm you see today as well as, the support he received from KCD, and how he stewards the environment alongside his farm. Topics include:

  • Confinement areas and mud management
  • Manure composting and use
  • Pasture rotation and management strategies
  • Living on Griffen Creek and managing a streamside buffer
  • Technical assistance and cost-share support from KCD

Light refreshments will be provided, please bring a water bottle. Dress for the weather and walking around a farm. The entire tour will take place outside. Contact [email protected] with any questions.
