‘In this nest of found things’ (‘Nest’ for short) represents the coming together of three distinct, critically acclaimed voices in jazz and improvised music. Jessica Carlton (trumpet), Dom Barrett (guitar), and Holli Scott (voice) combine thoughtfully honed approaches to their instruments with strong compositional voices to create a sound that is ethereal, moving, and affecting. Each song rises and falls with a movement that reflects a shared love of live improvisation and interaction. With a long list of state, national and international awards and nominations between them, this new format features Carlton, Scott and Barrett in a highly collaborative, spontaneous, and intimate setting.Nest recently performed Scott’s work in Sydney for the prestigious Freedman Jazz Fellowship Finals, and now rejoin in Perth to perform a curated selection of works by all three musicians as they officially launch their collaborative project into the world.
