On Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 1:00 PM, the Sarah Riggs Humphreys–Mary Silliman Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will be hosting a Forgotten Patriot Grave Marking Ceremony at Riverside Cemetery in Trumbull, CT. This event will honor Nero Hawley, an African American Revolutionary War soldier who earned his freedom through military service. Forgotten Patriots are men and women of color who contributed to America’s independence, but whose service has too often been overlooked. DAR Forgotten Patriot markers are placed to ensure their sacrifices are remembered and honored by future generations.Please park across the street from Old Mill Road and walk up to the cemetery.
