What is the cognitive basis for radicalisation? How does this manifest in today's world? How do group dynamics contribute to radical belief systems?

This lecture will delve deeper into the psychological mechanisms that play a hand in the development of radicalisation and how individuals become drawn towards extreme beliefs, touching on identity, belonging and the social forces that shape radical thinking.

Speaker : Dev Vyas, Psychologist and Professor , St. Xavier's College

A psychologist, researcher, and educator, Dev Vyas works at the intersection of psychological research and real-world human behaviour. His published work spans sports psychology, smartphone addiction, and abnormal psychology, while his broader research interests explore moral psychology, the impact of AI, psychometrics, and the psychology of radicalisation.

He has trained under Dr. Hansal Bhachech, a practicing psychiatrist with over three decades of experience, and has interned at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS). He has previously lectured at Marwadi University, Rajkot, and served as Co-Convenor of an international conference on Youth and Democracy.
