Marguerite Boissonnault presents:
Embodied Awareness: Catalyst for Transformation
"All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players." This famous quote from Shakespere unites us all in the play of life, but what if we took a more decidedly active role in the characters we choose to play? A subtle shift in tone has the ability to drastically change our meaning, when body language doesn't align with words, we detect a lie, and our simple presence has the capacity to shift the atmosphere of space. With every action that we take, we become writers of the play of life, and whether those actions remain unconscious or not becomes a choice.
Marguerite is a dynamic communicator and character creator. She received her master's from Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre in 2020 when all of the theaters, and most of the world shut down. This prompted her to consider how theatre might exist outside of the stage. Working with the Farm Arts Collective she explored how farming, theatre arts, and the precarious position of our planet collide. In 2022 she toured Jumella, an original work, through California with her first company Falling Object. Currently she is working on integrating the ephemeral soft skills of the theatre into mainstream society with her new company TransformativeMask.
John Broshears presents:
Real Pathologists: Would you tell your mother if you became one?
Pathologists play a crucial role in determining the cause of diseases, understanding how diseases progress, and guiding treatment decisions. This talk takes a deeper dive into the world of real-world pathologists, shedding light on their vital role within the medical community, highlighting the unique humor of pathologists, offering insight into how they navigate the challenges of their profession. Balancing the seriousness of their work with a lighthearted approach, John Broshears will delve into the delicate balance between maintaining respect for the consequences of a pathologist's decisions and the confidence needed to carry out his duties. As the former high school class clown turned pathologist guides the audience through this fast-paced exploration, they emerge with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the complexities of pathology.
John grew up in a small southern Indiana farming and coal mining town with a dream of becoming a great basketball star. That dream crashed in high school shortly after puberty when the realization of a 6 ft. skinny dweeb with no hang time ain’t going to cut it! With inspiring support from a mentor science teacher, who was also the basketball and football coach, John went to Indiana University School of Medicine, receiving a Navy scholarship followed by completing pathology residency at the Naval Medical Center San Diego. He is not sure why he specialized in pathology, but just liked looking through a microscope. Perhaps because of similarity to peeking through binoculars in voyeurism... Now he is living the dream!

Erica Moulton presents:
Getting Wet with Robots
Keeping up with the advances in technology is tough, but it is also giving us access to the oceans of the world in ways we never dreamed possible. ROVS are an innovative way to get techie and have fun learning about ocean exploration while using the technology and tools that make current ocean research possible. Finally, all those hours of video games might just pay off as you replicate how scientists navigate the oceans with underwater robots!
Erica Moulton owns a small business providing underwater robot kits and programs around the world and her non-profit, the Center for Open Exploration (C4OE) conducts citizen science projects all over the planet. She has 20 + years experience in STEM education along with her research in the marine technology and biology field. For her work in marine technology, exploration and habitat conservation, Erica was recognized as 1 of 16 women named to the Explorer’s Club on the 40th Anniversary of women being admitted to the organization. She has been awarded NAUI’s Worldwide Environmental Enrichment Award and the American Geophysical Union award for Sharing Science, she has worked all over the planet from the Arctic to the Antarctic and has had an aquaculture experiment onboard the Space Shuttle.
