Holly Eckelberger presents - The Group Chat Lied, Bestie
We were all a little undereducated and a little overconfident when it came to sex and it shows. This talk unpacks the gap between sex ed, group chat advice, and actual sexual health information. Holly (That Sex Educator) uses humor and real-life examples to break down common myths about STIs, pregnancy, pleasure, and communication. It’s honest, a little chaotic, and actually useful.
Holly Eckelberger (she/her) is a sexual health educator, activist, business owner, and podcast host who specializes in saying the things everyone is thinking but nobody was taught how to talk about. As the founder of That Sex Educator, she provides pleasure-affirming, consent-grounded education that helps people feel more confident in their bodies, clearer in their communication, and less weighed down by shame. Grounded in her work with Roc.SRJ, Holly approaches sexual health and bodily autonomy as justice issues — not just personal ones. As the host of Meet Me at the Spot: Where Pleasure Meets Education, she brings bold questions, real talk, and zero awkward energy to conversations about intimacy, stigma, and culture, blending humor, honesty, and just the right amount of spice to make learning feel empowering and relatable.
Paul Kim presents - Bite Me: Why I want to be a werewolf and you should too
From ancient mythos to modern paranormal romance werewolves have terrified and seduced humans. But werewolves are more than penumbral horrors and smokin’ hot book cover art. What is it about these monsters that help us feel more human? What is it about fantasy that speaks truth? Come and find out why I fell in love with these creatures and maybe you will too.
One of the great questions of life is “What makes us human and how can we have more of that please?” This question has led Paul to many curious things never have anticipated - volunteering in nursing homes, learning from people with disabilities, sitting with the dying, working with people living in their own reality. And as much as he has learned about suffering, Paul also learned about healing thought relationship, trust, painting, sharing food, writing poetry, and creating his own werewolf romance novel. Paul feels most fully himself when trying to live like a werewolf.
Anna Vogas presents - From Hearses to Lifesavers: The Freedom House Paramedics and the Advent of Modern EMS
When you call 911 for an ambulance today, you're met by highly trained professionals who have completed rigorous education, certification, and continuing training. But this is a surprisingly recent development in American history. As recently as the 1960s, many ambulances were operated by funeral homes out of converted hearses and staffed by people with little to no medical training. So how did we get from there to the modern Emergency Medical Services (EMS) systems we rely on today? Fans of The Pitt may recognize the Freedom House Paramedics, the pioneering ambulance service that helped lay the foundation for modern emergency medical care. This talk will give a deeper look into the fascinating history of EMS, from hearse-based ambulance services to the development of the systems we depend on today.
Anna is a rising junior at the University of Rochester majoring in Chemistry with minors in Biology and Philosophy. Before moving to Rochester for college (the best decision she's made thus far), Anna grew up in New Jersey, a state where you're not allowed to pump your own gas, but 16-year-olds can become EMTs! Taking full advantage of that opportunity, Anna joined her local EMS agency in December 2022, earned her EMT certification shortly thereafter, and hasn't looked back since! After arriving to Rochester, Anna joined the University of Rochester's campus EMS agency, RC MERT, where she is now both a Crew Chief and the Director of Training.
