Foraging and Growing Workshops coming to you all the way from Christchurch. No need for prior knowledge we will learn everything from scratch.Workshop description:
Like last time in January we are meeting at Waimarama community gardens.
Inga from the Foraging and Growing Corner will be showing a fun & unusual way of sun-drying fruit from the Red Zone (which can be used for many vegetables too) and also we will learn how to dry herbs. Techniques adapted to the Christchurch environment that any of us can do. Out of natural and/or recycled materials at hand with zero waste, cosy and no impact on the environment.
While canning and preserving (including refrigeration & freezing) are extremely energy-consuming processes (relatively recent inventions of the industrial revolution time), sun drying is one of the oldest and most sustainable methods to preserve food dating back several thousands of years.

REGISTRATION IS Essential the event is number of registered people dependent.
50$ per person per workshop, 80$ for 2 ppl within a family, children are free, animals are welcome. Volunteers of non profit organization's and community gardeners are welcome to register for koha - or vegetables/produce from their gardens if you prefer. please indicate upon registration limited spaces).
