Legendary Prog band Nektar returns to Indianapolis to perform classics from their 57 year history, plus a special set of King Crimson music.
About this Event

Since 1969, Nektar has taken legions of fans on audio-visual journeys to far reaches of the universe and the depths of the ocean with their immersive blend of sight and sound.

Nektar blends a Prog rock vibe with superb musicality, along with a multi-media light and video show that perfectly complements the music. If you enjoy early-to-late 1970s (but not 1980s MTV-era) Prog, Nektar is in your wheelhouse, and you will want to experience them in concert in Indy on August 2nd.

A Nektar show is an unparalleled feast for the senses.

Nektar features original member Derek "Mo" Moore (bass guitar, vocals). Mo will be retiring from active touring with the band following this tour. You will want to be at our show in Indy to say "thank you" and "godspeed you Prog legend" to MO.
Also starring in Nektar is Ryche Chlanda (guitar, lead vocals), an alum of previous Nektar incarnations. Ryche has a wonderful stage presence and an engaging Prog rock personality. World-class multi-instrumentalist Kendall Scott is a wizard on keyboards, bringing that classic '70s Prog keyboard sound to the band. Vocalist Maryann Castello adds her lovely voice to the mix, creating an ethereal vocal mood that enhances each song. With the death of founding member drummer Ron Howden in 2023, the band was happy to welcome Jay Dittamo to the Nektar family.

I am excited and honored to welcome Nektar back to Indianapolis for the SIXTH time since 2020!!! Nektar loves Indy, and Indy loves Nektar.

Nektar are known, loved, respected and revered worldwide. On January 21st, 2025, American Songwriter magazine announced their choice for the "4 Iconic Prog-Rock Albums That Still Sound Futuristic in the 2020s".

NONE of the albums were by American bands or writers. ALL of them were from Brits, and all from either the 1970s or mid-1980s.
The album coming in at #2 -- ahead of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" -- was Remember the Future by Nektar. In this article, the magazine stated "Part of what makes prog-rock albums such a delight is how forward-thinking many of them are. At least, that’s definitely the case for progressive rock albums that came out decades ago during the genre’s heyday. We’re big fans of the following four records and think they’re still quite ahead of their time, even in the 2020s."

Regarding Nektar's "Remember the Future", the magazine stated "Out of all the prog-rock albums on this list, there’s something particularly funky about the 1973 album Remember The Future by Nektar. One could look at it as a single, conceptual song divided up into 10 different tracks, as the rhythm tracks seamlessly weave one song into another. The way the chord progressions were written was quite smart, and the story behind the album is as bizarre as it is brilliant."

Clearly, Nektar is a band that has been ahead of itself over the past 50+ years, and is still as relevant and rockin' and psychedelic as ever.

The band has been taking care of fans (old and new) by releasing classic material from their recent tours plus from their archives. In 2024, the band released a concert CD/DVD release from their 2023 tour, as well as CD/DVD 50th anniversary box sets of their iconic albums REMEMBER THE FUTURE and RECYCLED.

You may purchase these and other great releases at the band's merch table inside the Irving Theater.

The band will also perform a set of King Crimson music from their 1969 debut album -- a rare and unique addition to the Nektar live experience.

Doors to the non-VIP fans open at 5:00pm. Showtime is at an early time for a Sunday evening -- 6:00pm. Perfect for a great night of music that will still let you get home or back to your hotel without being too late.

VIP Experience / Meet & Greet / Dinner ticket-buyers may enter the theater at 4:00pm for this pre-show event, which lasts until 5:00pm. How often have you ever been able to have dinner with one of your favorite bands? You can, as a VIP ticket purchaser. Enjoy time with each of the members of Nektar. This ticket level also includes one seat in the first two rows of the theater.

For everyone, not just the VIPs, Nektar will sign autographs at their merchandise table (no extra charge!) after the concert. How often does THAT happen at concerts? Always with shows that I produce and bring to Indy.

Join us in welcoming NEKTAR back to Indy. If you have seen them perform over the past six years, you know what a fantastic show they deliver, and you'll want to see them with Mo for his last ride with the band. If you have not seen Nektar previously, come to this concert and experience a magical night of musical and visual entertainment.
