Since disbanding his eponymous trio and becoming a solo artist in 2018, pianist Cowley has introduced elements of ambient, electronic and neoclassical music into his sound, having established himself as an esteemed pianist, composer and producer. In 2021 came Hall of Mirrors, Cowley’s magnum opus, his first solo album and the truest realisation yet of his unending love affair with the piano. Recorded in Berlin, the album featured piano arrangements filtered through a prism of production tricks, with support from Clash, Mojo and Uncut plus radio support from BBC 6 Music, Radio 1, Radio 2 and Radio 3. Returning to the stage, Neil celebrated the Hall of Mirrors release with a sold-out show at London's Islington Assembly Hall in May 2021 and ended the year with a two-night residency at London's Southbank Centre.
With a unique visual backdrop of vintage TV sets, Cowley inhabits his personal musical playspace on stage surrounded by keyboards and electronics, in a captivating display of artistry and showmanship.
Battery Life is released on 24th March 2023 and the Spring sees Neil tour extensively in the UK with shows in Belgium, Germany, Ireland and The Netherlands.
"Battery Life is an album of abstract memories and stolen excerpts. It is my perception of the past before the detail is filled in. Blurred pictures, strange details, a feeling, a smell and above all the freedom to redefine the past at my whim. In an age where we are able to archive virtually any amount of life experience at the press of a button, it calls into question the value of a memory, both undetailed and detailed."

Originally from Florida, Simone Seales is a Glasgow-based cellist who completed their postgraduate studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2021. They focus on free improvisation (both tonal and atonal) and devising music for theatre. Simone is passionate about exploring sound, how sound can reflect emotional states of being and how emotions are embodied. Their creative influences come from Black feminist leaders such as Audre Lorde, Assata Shakur and bell hooks. Within Simone's creative work, they centre Blackness, sexuality, intersectional feminism and anti-racism. They believe Western Classical musicians are capable of making meaningful social change. Passionate about reaching new audiences and increasing access to arts education, Simone is a Senior Lead Ambassador and the Teaching Ambassador Coordinator for the Benedetti Foundation, and focuses on trauma-informed teaching practices.
Simone is currently the Young Artist in Residence for Chamber Music Scotland, a recipient of the Sphinx MPower Grant, and they are the co-artistic director of ‘demo theatre collective’. Demo put on a show at the Fringe entitled 'we just need to get through this', which combined text and musical language to convey the inner worlds of the characters. Recently, Simone has received grants from Chamber Music Scotland and National Theatre Scotland in partnership with NEUROSTAGES. They are also in residency alongside their dear friend and collaborator Rylan Gleave with BOOM at Oxford Contemporary Music (OCM).
Recently, they have appeared on tour with RashDash Theatre in ‘Oh Mother’, in the Edinburgh Arts Festival as part of Thulani Rachia’s piece ‘obuyile’; DanceBase’s SnowMotion showcase and Hidden Door Festival alongside dancer Taylor Han in the dance-theatre piece ‘With Catastrophic Consequences’; the Fringe Festival as part of the Pianodrome Sessions; they performed a solo set interpreting poetry into music at The Great Western Festival; a COP26 Fringe Event at the Glasgow Cathedral performing a contemporary interpretation of Vivaldi’s Four-Seasons, led by Sarah Wagner; they hosted a Juneteenth Event at the Alchemy Experiment which celebrated Black Women’s Joy and Liberation.
