Needle Felting: Squirrel Gathering Winter Acorns
Advertisement
Whether you're new to needle felting or looking to refresh your skills, this two-session class (Thursday, November 5, and Thursday, November 12) will cover foundational techniques while guiding participants through the creation of an adorable red squirrel gathering his acorns for winter.
Along the way, participants will explore several techniques for adding detail and personality to their squirrel, including creating small fingers with wire, hand carding to blend wool colors for a more realistic look, and building a wire armature that allows the finished squirrel to stand on its own. You’ll even create winter accessories, including a hat, vest, and basket. Step-by-step guidance, creativity, laughter, and plenty of relaxing felting time are all part of the experience.
Finished squirrels will be approximately 8 inches tall. Participants will take home their completed project, any leftover wool, a wooden handle with needle, extra multi-sized needles, a felting mat, an organizer case, and a reusable tote bag.
Class Note: Participants who have multi-needle handles are encouraged to bring them.

Community Instructor: Iva Jean Kristek
For ten years, Iva Jean has been making original needle felted creations. Every class project is created solely by Iva Jean. Even when she was working full time in a non related field, she found needle felting to be a very relaxing pastime. Iva Jean has used her experiences living in 3 different states to expand her needle felting knowledge, which led to her being a member of an artisan group where she made and sold her creations. Iva Jean now enjoys sharing with others this fun and relaxing artform.
