Needle Drop - From Screen To Stage

From original soundtracks to becoming pre-existing music that imprints in our minds, each needle drop transforms the music, infusing new meaning into the scenes that follow.

This concert delves into the influential role of music in film, presenting pieces from iconic movies such as "Star Wars" by John Williams and "Interstellar" by Hans Zimmer, played on a symphonic organ. We also perform the works of Ryuichi Sakamoto with pieces from "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence" and "The Last Emperor." Moving beyond traditional orchestral setups, we feature innovative ensembles and diverse instrumentations.

On first glance from the street, Dominicuskerk might not capture immediate attention as a concealed treasure. Yet, through the experience of a concert, you have the unique opportunity to explore and appreciate this architecture. Constructed over a decade from 1883 to 1893 by the renowned Pierre Cuypers - the mastermind behind landmarks like Amsterdam Centraal Station and the Rijksmuseum - the church is a testament to Cuypers' comprehensive design philosophy. The church showcases Cuypers' holistic design approach, from the interior furnishings to the intricate details of the altar and organ case, all contributing to a harmonious and functional space.
