Nectar pre-season Workshop + mini-dance

As the summer is winding down and we transition into the Nectar season, it feels right to practice tuning into how we’ll be together—to align our energy, movement, and presence.
As you may have heard, we are moving venues. Our new home will be a different shape, soon to be revealed (no, it’s not this venue!).
Join me in honing our skills and getting warmed up in a lil’ pre-season dance moment.
This workshop focuses on range—our ability to respond proportionately to the moment with agility and attunement. Understanding how our own body mechanics and different qualities of presence and density shape movement, enables versatile expression and adaptability in navigating space and musical terrain.
Here's our schedule for the day:
3-4:15pm Class 1: Foundations for Big Conversations in Small Spaces
Body & group warm-up. Honing the small and subtle with intentional patterns and surprises. A mix of somatic awareness, social zhushing, play, and partnering skills.
4:30-5:55pm Class 2: Range & Responsiveness
Mixing qualities of movement in tune to musicality, momentum, and spatial negotiation. From micro to macro and back again.
6-7pm+ Nectar droplet
DJ'd lightly facilitated dance to wrap it all together.
7-7:30pm snacks & goodbyes
We may or may not utilize other parts of the building for the classes.
Bring a water bottle, socks to move in and snacks for yourself (or to share!).
Antje’s classes are designed to be inclusive, encouraging, and fun. They teach material in an embodied way, focusing repetition, subtlety, and feeling it in our body as much as understanding it with our minds to make sure the dots connect holistically.
Cost:
$45-70 sliding scale

Antje Schaefer (they/them) is a movement facilitator, community space curator, artist and somatic guide who creates experiences for people to activate their senses and unfurl in embodied, relational play. They have been teaching partnered dance/movement and shaping liberatory spaces that contribute to cultures of resilience and connection for over a decade. They started their fusion dance teaching journey as the co-founder of Cocréa, a mindful fusion partner dance modality centered in connection. Since then, they have continued to iterate their offerings toward greater depth, relationality and embodied awareness. Alongside teaching and hosting local fusion partner dances Nectar Fusion and QueerBeat, they facilitate mind-body agility practice for embodied resilience and relational intimacy called Relational Body.
