This course involves making a patchwork quilt with a finished size of around 78”x52” (200cm x 135cm).
About this Event

This course involves making a patchwork quilt with a finished size of around 78”x52” (200cm x 135cm), which is around the size of a single duvet. You will have the option of making a two colour version or a three colour version. Detailed instructions will be provided for the version you decide to make.

On the first day, you will cut out all of your pieces and start to put your initial blocks together.

On the second day, you will start to piece your blocks together and should make good progress towards your quilt top.

Following the class, you will need to take your quilt away to layer up, ready to quilt and bind.

MATERIALS

All materials for your quilt top are included in the cost of this class, whether you choose the two colour or three colour version. This covers white-on-white background fabric. For your feature fabrics, it includes a full range of fabrics priced at £8.00 per metre. If you would like to use one of our lovely designer fabrics, an additional charge will be payable. Fabric to bind your quilt will also to be provided.

Wadding and backing fabric are not included, but will be available to purchase on the day, if required.

You will also need to bring a rotary cutter and 24” quilting ruler. If you would like us to source these, please let us know in plenty of time, so we can order them in for you.

You are welcome to come into the shop before the class, if you would like to choose your fabrics and make a start on cutting out. Please do let us know if you are planning to do this, so that we can ensure that a cutting guide can be provided for your chosen quilt.

Tea, coffee, soft drinks and homemade cake are included.

Skill level: Intermediate

As for all of our sewing workshops, you must be able to use a sewing machine with a reasonable level of skill. On that basis, you should have either completed an “introduction to sewing machines” session, or have used a sewing machine yourself to undertake simple tasks like joining two pieces of fabric. If you have not done this, this course will not be suitable.

Although basic techniques will be used and full tuition will be given, there is quite a lot to get through in this class. You will need to layer up, quilt and bind your quilt after the class, so you will need to have the skills to do this independently.

You will also need to feel confident in cutting out accurately using a ruler and rotary cutter, although some support will be given with this.

Terms and conditions:

Our workshops are open to individuals aged fourteen and upwards. However, a responsible adult must remain on site at all time with minors.

Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place.

Any further details, along with anything you need to bring with you, will be sent out via email in advance of the scheduled date.

All workshops will begin promptly at the scheduled time, so please ensure that you arrive early enough to get yourself settled in and have a coffee and cake before the class is due to start.

Cancellations:

For cancellations with more than two weeks’ notice, a refund will be given, less a 25% administration fee. Cancellations with less two weeks’ notice are non-refundable, unless we are able to fill your place.

All workshops will clearly be marked as being suitable for beginners, intermediate or advanced. When booking a workshop, you are responsible for assessing your own abilities. Happy Hare cannot be held responsible if you book the wrong level of workshop or do not read the description of the workshop correctly. A refund will not be given for booking a workshop which you later feel is not at the right level for you, unless the cancellation is made more than two weeks’ prior to the scheduled date.

Should we need to cancel a class due to circumstance beyond our control or limited numbers, a full refund will be given. Alternatively, you will be given the option to book onto another workshop.

Please note: when making a booking it is assumed that our terms and conditions have been read and approved.
